Misuse Section 144, introduced by the British rulers in 1898, has been used at various times to suppress dissent.On February 21,1952,Section 144 was issued to suppress the students movement demanding Bengali as the state language, and for violating this section,the police shot and killed Salam,Barkat, Rafiq and many others.
